Chapelle Notre Dame du Groseau

In the 14th century, the complex was at the heart of a palace where Pope Clement V liked to stay. Comprising two adjoining chapels dating from the 12th century, both feature richly carved interior decoration. Chapel closed for renovation.

This chapel consists of two 12th century buildings which are connected - Saint-John the Baptist Chapel and Notre-Dame Chapel, both of which have rich sculpted decorations inside. The carved Roman stones re-used here testify to the ancient occupation of this site. In the 14th century, these chapels stood inside a palace, where Pope Clement V liked to stay. The chapels stand in a lovely countryside setting, near a spring, very nice for picnics.Open only for groups and upon reservation . call the Tourist Office of Carpentras for information: 04 90 63 00 78.
