The Gigondas Hospice was built on a former feudal castle site encircled by ramparts. The site was famous for its pilgrimages and prayers in the 12th century, as at the time, many hospices were set up all over the country. Several vaulted rooms remain in the Gigondas hospice and within the ramparts, 3 or 4 very old abodes still boast doorframes, windows and ceiling of the time. Entry is free and a lovely picnic area, temporary exhibition and bookshop are at your disposal. The Gigondas Hospice was built on a former feudal castle site encircled by ramparts.
