The historic village of Méthamis is built on a rocky promontory overlooking the canyon carved out by the Nesque river. The church which dominates it dates from the 12th century.
Already occupied in the Neolithic period, it still lives on thanks to agriculture and the quality of life it offers.

Méthamis is near the Nesque River Canyons and Mont Ventoux, beautiful, popular places in Vaucluse and absolute paradise for cyclists. Méthamis is also the starting point for many hikes, with marked paths which take you through superb countryside and beautifully preserved nature. BE SURE TO SEE: the old village, built along a rocky promontory; the vestiges of the châteauand its protective wall with entrance gate, cisterns, and the stone bridge which replaced the drawbridge. see the ruins of the "Plague Wall" the "Mur de la Peste" built in 1720 in an attempt to protect Provence from the plague entering the area. See the places called "LaCorneirette" and "Pouraque"; the château de La Graille, in the hamlet "Les Bastides". See the Romanesque church of Saint-Denis-et-Saint-Blaise from the 12th century, which crowns the old village.
