The Domaine de Galuval is located in the Rhône Valley, between the village of Cairanne and the village of Rasteau. A superb location overlooking Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Comtat plains.
The wine estate Domaine de Galuval has a strong historical past, with the vestiges of ancient Roman villas on the estate. The estate's name comes from the Latin words "Gallia" and "Uva" which mean, respectively, Gaul, and grape.
The vineyards grow on 49 hectares of land, in several Côtes du Rhône appellations including Crus Cairanne and Rasteau.
The Domaine de Galuval also has several different types of terroirs, ranging from sloping, sunny lands to terraces on the right bank of the river Eygues.
The soils are worked and improved to enhance their vitality and their freshness, key elements in the dry Mediterranean climate exposed to strong Mistral winds.
The methods used are there to significantly reduce the need for plant protection products and to enhance the quality of the grape harvest. Methods include trellising certain grape varieties, debudding and green pruning.
The healthier the grape at harvest time, the better it naturally and fully expresses its terroir.
Because we work to produce wines that retain the natural power of Grenache while bringing out the finesse and elegance vintage after vintage, we have set up an ambitious vineyard restructuration programme.
