Mormoiron

Mormoiron is an old fortified village built in the Middle Ages. Its winding streets and other Provençal "soustets" (covered passages), as well as the ochre quarries, whose industrial activity ended in the 19th century, make the village unique today.

The architectural heritage of the village is very rich ; the old hospital, the fountains, the wash houses, the rural chapels, the Saint Laurent church and the observation towers.

Hiking will allow you to tread upon the red soil, starting from the lake of Salettes. This artificial lake covers more than 45 acres and is an invitation to swimming, bringing moments of relaxation to families on its sandy beaches. For angling enthusiasts, the lake is classified in 2nd category and is very rich in black-bass.

In Mormoiron, gourmets, lovers of good wine and onlookers will be spoilt for choice : chateaux, domains and the coop offer wine tasting of AOP Ventoux wines. You will find seasonal fruits and vegetables on the market, held each Tuesday and Sunday morning. Asparagus is here honoured on the last Sunday of April each year.
