The Mont Ventoux is an area of natural beauty with much to discover. One of the best ways is by foot. Find below some of our favourite walks.

Walk – La Combe de Malaval – Malaval Valley

From Bedoin, follow signs to the Ventoux then rapidly turn left on ‘chemin de la montagne’. Carry on to Bélezy and follow the small road for 1 km.
Distance : 5,5 km (3,42 miles) / Ascent : 400 m (1312 feet) gain in altitude / Time : 2 ½ hours

A cool walk with unusual rock shelters along the way. A fairly steep ascent leads up to a stunning view of the valleys.

Walk – La Combe de Curnier – Curnier Valley

A beautiful valley waiting to be discovered. You’ll be surprised by some of the unusually narrow passages. A fairly difficult walk to be avoided in wet weather as the stones become very slippery. Be aware that there are a few vertiginous sections.
Distance : 13,1 km / 8,1 miles (going via Les Colombets, the Jas de Landerot, the Combe Fiole and the Combe d’Ansis) / Ascent : 860 m (2822 feet) / Time : 5 hours

The Jean Henri Fabre Walk

Follow in the footsteps of the famous French entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre. Using forestry tracks which become cross-country skiing trails in the winter, this is an easy and accessible family walk. There are 3 loops that can be done together (3 ½ hours) or seperately (one of which is 2 hours long).

To reach the summit…..

The challenge of reaching the summit by foot is possible for most people. One just needs to choose the right path ! Here we provide the key information necessary to succeed and suggest the different routes depending on levels of fitness !

Find the detailed descriptions on the page : 5 walks to reach the Ventoux summit. 

- By foot from the Chalet Reynard to the summit 2 hours ascent / 2 hours descent (4 ½ hours round trip) – length : 5,3 km (3,3 miles) - Altitude at the start point : 1420 m – Ascent + 550 m (1804 feet).
- By foot from the Mont-Serein to the summit via the GR4 1 hour 50 mins ascent / 1 hour 50 mins descent Length : 4,3 km (2,7 miles) Altitude at start point : + 1413 m – Ascent : + 490 m (1608 feet).
- By foot from Chemin du bout du monde (hameau les Alazards) to the summit 5 hours 15 mins one way - Distance :12 km (7,4 miles) Altitude at start point : 597 m – Ascent + 1313 m (4308 feet).
- By foot from Bédoin (hameau Sainte-Colombe) to summit 4 ½ to 5 hours (one way) – 10,6 km (6,6 miles) – Ascent + 1463 m (4800 feet).
- Circular walk ‘’les crêtes du Mont-Ventoux’’ – The Ventoux Ridge Walkla montée from the Chalet Reynard 4 hours round trip – 12 km (7,5 miles) Ascent :+ 534 m (1752 feet).
- The ascent of the Mont Ventoux from Sault. The toughest option ! Distance : 17,6 km (10,94 miles) Ascension : + 1235m (+ 4052 feet) / -117m (- 384 feet)

Walk - The Canaud Valley at Flassan

On the edge of this charming village with its ochre coloured façades, discover one of the Ventoux’s unspoilt valleys. Situated on the southern slopes, paths that charcoal producers and shepherds, taking their sheep up to higher pastures, would have followed.

Themed Trail - Discovering the Large Fauna of the Ventoux

In the heart of the forest and dotted with land art, a themed walk about the wild animals that live in the Ventoux. A lovely circular family walk recommended from spring to autumn. Distance : 1,9 km (1,18 miles) / Time : 1 hour / Ascent : 83 m (272 feet).

The Cedar Forest Trail

4,5 km (2,8 miles) after Sainte-Colombe, on the road that heads up to the Ventoux from Bédoin. Walk in the oldest part of the largest cedar forest in France.
Distance : 7,5 km (4,66 miles) / Ascent : 400 m (1312 feet) / Time : 3 hours

Walk – The Perrache Forest

Start point Jas des Melettes 11 km to the east of Bedoin , on the road up to the Mont Ventoux. A path in the shade of an attractive forest with a pause at the fountain d’Angièu.
Distance : 6 km (3,72 miles)/ Ascent : 150 m (492 feet) / Time : 2 hours

Walk – the Piaud Mountain in Malaucène

During this walk you will discover some of Malaucène’s history : the gypsum industry from the XVIIIth to XXth century, the reforestation of the Ventoux’s slopes with Austrian Pine, the religious history with the Groseau chapel and the stations of the cross of the Piaud Mountain. Distance : 10km (6,21 miles) / Ascent : 525 m (1722 feet) / Time : 3 ½ hours
