Scenic roads with stunning views of the Ventoux, the Gorges de la Nesque, the plain of Sault, Méthamis.

From hilltop villages and following quiet roads will unfold varied countryside. This time you won’t be driving through the gorge but will be seeing it from a different angle! Hilltop villages and more…

The route starts in Sault, the home of lavender. The flowering period usually starts in early July offering splendid walks but the distilleries welcome you year round !

Perched on a rocky outcrop, take a step back in time and visit the historic centre with its medieval fortified architecture and restored windmill…

Leave the village taking the road for Aurel with views over the Sault valley, a colourful patchwork of different crops. Aurel, characterful village with narrow streets and beautiful stone facades, perfect for strolling.

Once back in Sault having taken the higher road head for St Jean de Sault, not forgetting a photo stop at the belvedere of St Jean (our favourite) then drive on to Méthamis. A second viewpoint before arriving at St Hubert offers spectacular views of the Rocher du Cire, the touristic road of the Gorges de la Nesque and the Mont Ventoux.

At Méthamis park by the old windmill and walk up to the romanesque church from which you can see as far as the Mont Aigoual on a clear day. Enjoy a stroll through the paved streets of this authentic village perched on the edge of the ravine.

Wind down through the vines to Blauvac. Village built on a limestone ridge offering extensive views of the Comtat plain, the Monts de Vaucluse, the Mont Ventoux and its southern valleys. You can also stop at the orientation table on the road to Malemort-du-Comtat.

Once at Mormoiron return to Sault on the main road (D1)
